You can hear classic women’s blues and jazz in endless cafés and bars.  They seem to have been appropriated by ‘cappuccino culture’, they have become a code for sophistication, relaxation, and coolness.  But they are always in the background, like an ‘acoustic wallpaper conspiracy’.

In this live music and multimedia performance we want to ‘bring them back to life’ by performing classic blues and jazz songs and introducing them with some brief background and context. We will also show audio visual material of classic women blues and jazz singers in live performance. 

To follow this we will round off the evening with ten further videos of some our favourite female jazz and blues singers in live performance.
