FLATMATES: Fans of all things indie and punk take note!

One of THE greatest C86, indie pop/punk bands ever is playing a Generating Steam Heat show at The Thunderbolt with an amazing supporting cast…

The Flatmates were formed in 1985 in Bristol and rose to prominence on the indie scene with a string of great releases on the legendary Subway Organisation including the indie chart #1 single ‘Shimmer’.

With the aim of making classic pop tunes combining the energy of 70s punk bands such as The Ramones and The Buzzcocks with the cool pop charm of 60s girl bands like The Ronettes and Shangri-Las, the Flatmates made classic indie records, recorded John Peel Sessions and toured extensively including three appearances at Glastonbury festival.

The band have been back since 2013, played numerous shows, including tours of the US, France and Germany and released their latest self titled album in 2020.

This date is part of the bands current UK tour and features a great supporting line up of Lonely Tourist and the Pilots

PILOTS formed in 2016, initially with Joe Rooney and Phil Wilmott (formerly of Bristol's alternative indie group, The Experimental Pop Band) with Mark Pope on keyboards and Keith Bailey (from Spaceways / Experimental Pop Band / Silenzio) on drums. Expect alternative indie / post-rock / grunge / shoegaze / folk ). The band has recently started to play live with Bristol songwriter, Houdie, whose softly sung, calm vocals bring a contrast to her grungey guitar and add an interesting layer to Pilots' songs.
