After much deliberation, we have decided to remain closed until September 2020. The summer months have been consistently quiet at The Thunderbolt and after a significant period of closure, we feel that opening now could jeopardise our long-term sustainability.

We also are fully committed to ensuring the safety of our customers and staff.  Although we have a rear garden, we feel that the implementation of the social distancing rules will significantly reduce the numbers of customers coming to our small and intimate venue and ultimately our profitability.

We would prefer to wait until there is a further relaxation of the lockdown, which will allow us to return without the current restrictions, hopefully avoiding the use of big ugly plastic screens at the bar and sticking tape all over the floor. We are fully committed to a reintroducing live music when its permitted.

On the plus side, as Dave hasn’t had anything to do over the last few months, he's developed a host of new practical skills completing repairs and redecorating work to improve the building.  We intend to continue to make improvements to the venue during the next couple of months.

We are open to hiring the venue whilst we are closed during the day or evening obviously observing social distancing rules.  If you have an idea which you would like to explore with us, please contact Sophie at info@thethunderbolt.net.

We can’t wait to see you all again but until then, please support your local businesses and stay safe!

Best wishes

Sophie & Dave, The Thunderbolt
